Placebo Effect

I have been drinking decaffeinated coffee at home for the last few days. The effect is indistinguishable from the effect of ordinary instant coffee.

It's all in the mind.

Listening to Paradise Lost's album 'Symbol of Life' I couldn't help thinking that the best song is 'Xavier'. I knew it sounded familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. Of course, the original is from 'Within the Realm of a Dying Sun' - the first Dead Can Dance album I ever heard (still have the cassette). Secondhand songs here, for those who keep wondering.

What is the difference between different types of sameness, the sage asked. It turns out I am addicted to the taste of coffee, not to caffeine. And yes, sometimes cover songs are better than the originals.

I would recommend the sage who asked that to have more coffee with caffeine.

Sameness can differ and there is no paradox in this - it is just as simple.

Instant coffee sucks.

P.S. I'm very on-topic, aren't I? :) Just wanted to make a presence here, too.

@ W
It does, doesn't it:))
But after you drink it for several years because you're too lazy to make real coffee, you start to believe that THIS is real coffee, and decaffeinated coffee is only an echo.
An image of an image. Nothing is real anymore.

Omg 4 hours of sleep ^_^ And I start babbling incoherently:D like a real prophet

There are some things you can't make compromise with. Proper coffee is one of them.

Instant coffee can be very good if made properly (yes it's not just pouring water in it!)

The first source of mistakes about instant coffee is that people believe Nescafe to be something different than dried bat shit. The real product is Nescafe Gold (aka "Taster's Choice" beyond the pond, and the major competing brands have their own variants) which is freeze dried (not spray dried like the flying rodent byproducts aka regular Nescafe :)

Second, instant coffee is destined to be drunk with milk - choose nice full-fat milk, not the puny 0.5% water solutions. Warm a nearly full cup and remove the cream-skin before adding the coffee and sugar.

Third, sugar. And not just any type of sugar, try brown cane sugar (smells bad, tastes great)! Add it according to personal taste, and then add one more spoonfull :)

P.S. Remind me to try some "nightcap" cocktails based on coffee next time we see each other ;)
